Amity Creative Theater Presents My Fair Lady

Amity Regional High School’s acclaimed Amity Creative Theater (ACT) is in the final weeks of rehearsal for its production of the timeless classic My Fair Lady, premiering Thursday, March 19, 2026. Featuring music by Frederick Loewe, with lyrics and book by Alan Jay Lerner, the show promises an enchanting performance showcasing elegant costumes and sets, dynamic choreography, and beloved songs such as “Wouldn’t It Be Loverly,” “I Could Have Danced All Night,” and “On the Street Where You Live,” all accompanied by an all-student live orchestra.
Based on George Bernard Shaw’s play Pygmalion, My Fair Lady is a celebrated musical exploring transformation, patronage, gender politics, and class. Eliza Doolittle is a young flower seller with an unmistakable Cockney accent that keeps her in the lower rungs of Edwardian society. Henry Higgins, an acclaimed linguistic professor, wagers with his colleague Colonel Pickering that in six months he can transform Eliza into a sophisticated lady.
Through arduous training, Eliza learns to speak English “properly” and becomes admired across social classes. The story follows her journey from the streets to high society, culminating in Higgins’ deep affection and highlighting Eliza’s growing independence and self-worth.
As part of the celebration surrounding this year’s production, the parents of Amity Creative Theater and the cast of My Fair Lady invite the community to attend “A Loverly High Tea” on Saturday, March 21, from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. at Amity High School, 25 Newton Road in Woodbridge. Guests will enjoy a delightful selection of tea and light fare, a festive High Tea Bingo game, activities for all ages, and a special musical performance by members of the cast.
Tickets are $30 per person or $200 for a table of eight, with proceeds benefiting the Jamie Hulley Arts Foundation. Space is limited, and attendees are encouraged to RSVP at High Tea Registration or by emailing Aimee at ameacham@gmail.com by March 10.
Following the conclusion of the production, students will continue sharing the joy of My Fair Lady by bringing selections from the show to residents of local senior living communities, extending the spirit of the performance beyond the stage and into the broader community. ACT’s production is generously sponsored by the Jamie Hulley Arts Foundation.
