Upcoming Events

Bread & Torah

Saturday Mornings 9:00am-9:45am

Meet in the B’nai Jacob Library to explore the weekly Torah portion and the way in which its story relates to our own.  Be prepared for a lively discussion over bagels and coffee.  No experience necessary.  Taught by Rabbi Rona Shapiro.

Shir Hadash

Saturday, May 6, 9am

This is a songful, prayerful, soulful service led by Cantorial Intern, Kochava Munro, and Rabbi Shapiro.  We use the power of our music and kavanah of our words and hearts to make God’s presence manifest.

Shabbat Lunch & Learn

Saturday, May 6 after kiddush at 1:00pm in the library

Elizabeth Edelglass

Elizabeth will lead us in a discussion of her own story in the book, “Frankly Feminist”, along with several other stories.

Geniza Ceremony

Sunday, May 7 at 11:15am

We will conduct a Geniza ceremony in the yard at B’nai Jacob, to bury our shemot (papers and/or books that we want to dispose of that have God’s name written in Hebrew).  Because God’s name is holy, we don’t throw away paper on which it is written; rather, we save those books and papers in a geniza and we bury them in the earth as a sign of respect.

YAHAD

YAHAD, the combined religious school for Congregation B’nai Jacob and Congregation Or Shalom, is gearing up for another vibrant year of education for students in grades K-7.

Gan Hayeled Sundays

Open to all Jewish 3-year-olds and 4-year-olds in the community!

Play-based Jewish curriculum, offered Sunday mornings, provides a warm, caring environment in which children can develop social skills while also learning about Jewish holidays, traditions, and values.
