Bread & Torah with Rabbi Rona Shapiro

Shabbat Morning: 9:00 AM – 9:45 AM
Rabbi Shapiro will be teaching Mishna Berachot, which deals with the subject of blessings—how and when to say them. The mishna is a compilation of oral traditions recorded around 200 CE to preserve Jewish teachings as Jews went into exile.

CBJ Sukkah Hop

Saturday, October 19, 2024, 6:45 PM – 10:00 PM
Board the Sukkah Express at 7:00 PM for a fun evening hopping to three sukkot, enjoying drinks and light bites. Adults only.  Cost: $18 per person. Register at bnaijacob.org.

Simchat Torah Celebration

The Leadership Void in the American Constitution with Stephen Skowronek

Saturday, October 26, after Kiddush
Join CBJ member and political science scholar Stephen Skowronek as we step back from the heat of the election campaign to reconsider some fundamentals. He will discuss the framers' lack of a clear conception of political leadership and how this has led to improvisations in presidential leadership, potentially threatening constitutional governance.

The Future Fight Against Extremism and for Democracy: An ADL Program

Wednesday, October 30, 7:00 PM
The ADL, the world’s leading anti-hate organization, will host a discussion on the rise in extremism, antisemitism, and hate. An ADL expert will offer strategies to combat these threats, alongside a panel discussion with the Connecticut FBI on the community’s role in defending democracy.
