Bread & Torah with Rabbi Rona Shapiro
Shabbat Morning: 9:00 AM – 9:45 AM
Rabbi Shapiro will be teaching Mishna Berachot, which deals with the subject of blessings—how and when to say them. The mishna is a compilation of oral traditions recorded around 200 CE to preserve Jewish teachings as Jews went into exile.

Join us for a delightful evening of food, friends, and fun. We'll start with a BBQ and enjoy an outdoor Kabbalat Shabbat service at 6:30 PM. We look forward to gathering together for this special occasion.Casual dress. Beer, wine, juice and sodas will be provided. $12.00 per person (maximum $50 per family).
Ethical Wills: An Experiential Writing Workshop [virtual]
Tuesday, September 9 at 7PM
We will be opening the Geniza to bury Jewish books and ritual objects that are no longer usable. These items, often containing God’s name, are given a proper burial because of their special holy status. You are welcome to bring items for burial and join us outside on the synagogue field for this brief ceremony.
Selichot Evening & Film Screening: Beyond October 7th (2024)\
Saturday, September 6 at 7:45 PM
Join us for an inspiring evening of community, reflection, and tradition as we prepare for the High Holy Days. The night begins with Havdalah, followed by a screening and discussion of Beyond October 7th (2024). Afterward, enjoy a dessert reception before concluding with the moving Selichot service, a spiritual prelude to the holiday season.

A family-friendly program led by the Rabbi and Cantor to welcome the New Year.
Rosh Hashanah Day 1 Service
Tuesday, September 23 at 8:30 AM
Celebrate the New Year together with our Day 1 Rosh Hashanah Service at 8:30 AM. Drop-in babysitting will be available from 9:00–10:30 AM. Following the service, children and families are invited to participate in High Holiday Children and Family Programs from 10:30 AM–12:30 PM. The program is geared toward pre-K through 2nd graders, but all children are welcome to join.

Wednesday, September 24 at 9:00 AM
Come together for the second day of Rosh Hashanah with our 9:00 AM service. Drop-in babysitting will be available from 9:00–10:30 AM. Sukkah Building Party!
Sunday, September 28 at 12PM
Join us as we come together to build and decorate a festive Sukkah. Enjoy arts and crafts, delicious lunch, and fun family time together! All ages and skill levels are welcome - bring your helping hands and enjoy the spirit of community as we prepare for the holiday. Please RSVP so we can plan accordingly at bnaijacob.org
Cemetery Service
Sunday, September 28 at 1:00–2:00 PM
Held at B’nai Jacob Memorial Park on Wintergreen Avenue in New Haven, this annual service offers a time of remembrance and reflection during the High Holiday season.
