Recognition and Justice for Victims of Sexual Violence in Conflict

Professor Ruth Halperin-Haddari will speak at Congregation Beth El – Keser Israel on Saturday, Oct. 18. Her talk will center on events in Israel on Oct. 7, 2023, and the topic has been recognized at the United Nations as being important for all countries.

Professor of Law, graduate of Yale Law School, and Founding Head of the Rackman Center at Bar-Ilan University in Israel, Halperin-Kaddari is a family law expert in both the civil legal system and traditional Jewish law. 

She completed three terms as a member (twice Vice President) of the UN Committee on Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW). A recipient of numerous national and international grants and prizes, including the U.S. State Department’s Woman of Courage Award (2007), she publishes on family law in Israel, legal pluralism, feminism and halacha, and international women’s rights. 

In 2018 she was named one of the 100 most influential people in gender policy around the world by Apolitical, the world’s largest online platform for government, empowering the hundreds of millions of public servants around the world to be more effective and efficient in their work.
