Achievements

Brittany Kupcho Inducted into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi

Baton Rouge, LA - Brittany Kupcho of Woodbridge, Connecticut, was recently initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society.  Kupcho was initiated at University of Maryland, College Park.

Kupcho is among approximately 25,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be initiated into Phi Kappa Phi each year.  Membership is by invitation only and requires nomination and approval by a chapter.  Only the top 10 percent of seniors and 7.5 percent of juniors are eligible for membership. Graduate students in the top 10 percent of the number of candidates for graduate degrees may also qualify, as do faculty, professional staff and alumni who have achieved scholarly distinction.

Phi Kappa Phi was founded in 1897 under the leadership of undergraduate student Marcus L. Urann who had a desire to create a different kind of honor society:  one that recognized excellence in all academic disciplines.  Today, the Society has chapters on more than 325 campuses in the United States, its territories and the Philippines.  Its mission is “To recognize and promote academic excellence in all fields of higher education and to engage the community of scholars in service to others.”

Daniel Parker Enrolls at Eastern in spring 2024

Willimantic, CT - Eastern Connecticut State University welcomed 140 new students to campus this spring 2024 semester.  The new students include first-time and transfer students who are enrolled in full-time and part-time undergraduate and graduate programs.  Daniel Parker of Woodbridge is a full-time senior who is majoring in Physical Education.

Dean’s List

College of the Holy Cross

Worcester, MA - Matteo Delsanto of Woodbridge was named to the College of the Holy Cross Spring 2023 Dean’s List.  A member of the Class of 2024, Delsanto was named to the Dean’s List for outstanding academic achievement during the fall semester of the 2023-24 academic year.  To qualify, students must pass four or more letter-graded courses with no failing grades during the semester and earn a GPA of 3.5 or higher.

Emerson College

Boston, MA - Emerson College student Gabrielle McGovern from Woodbridge, CT is named to the College’s Dean’s List for the Fall 2023 semester.  The requirement to make Dean’s List is a grade point average of 3.7 or higher for that semester.  McGovern is majoring in Media Arts Production and is a member of the Class of 2024.

Fairfield University

Fairfield, CT - The following Fairfield University students from Bethany, CT received Dean’s List Honors for the Fall 2023 semester:  Alexandra Plaza and Saunder L. Saffran.

The following Fairfield University students from Woodbridge, CT received Dean’s Honors for the Fall 2023 semester:  Abigail J. Ressler and Allyson G. Skolnick.

In order to be placed on the Dean’s List, students must have completed a minimum of 12 credit hours in a semester, have no outstanding or incomplete grades for that semester, and have attained a semester grade point average of 3.50 or better.

Hamilton College

Clinton, NY - Deniz Tek, of Woodbridge, has been named to the Dean’s List at Hamilton College for the 2023 fall semester.  To be named to the Dean;s List, a student must have carried a course load of four or more graded credits throughout the semester and earned an average of 3.5 or above on a 4.0 scale.  Tek, a senior majoring in government, is a graduate of Hopkins School.
