Gabi Durso Named Two-Time USA Softball All-American

Gabriella “Gabi” Durso is doing something very few young athletes ever accomplish—earning national recognition not once, but twice. The 13-year-old Woodbridge resident has been named a USA Softball All-American for the Northeast Region for the second consecutive year.
Durso, an eighth grader at Amity Middle School in Bethany, will represent the Northeast once again this summer at the prestigious USA Softball All-American Games, scheduled for August 3–8 at Devon Park in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The venue is one of the sport’s most iconic stages, serving as the home of the Women’s College World Series, the USA Softball Hall of Fame and the 2028 Olympic softball site.
Last year, Durso competed as a 12U athlete, traveling to Oklahoma City to face elite competition from across the country. This year, she returns at the 14U level—an advancement that reflects both her growth and continued excellence on the field. The USA Softball All-American Games provides national exposure for the top fastpitch softball athletes in the 12U and 14U divisions. Out of thousands of players evaluated nationwide, only 360 athletes are selected each year to earn the distinction of wearing the USA Softball All-American jersey.
Off the field, Durso is equally committed to making an impact. In her spare time, she is the President and founder of her own 501(c)(3) non-for-profit and Connecticut Public Charity. The "Good Night Sleep Tight PJ Program" provides new pajamas to children who are sick, hospitalized, or experiencing housing insecurity. Durso regularly supports these efforts and takes pride in helping bring comfort to other children in need.
Gabi currently plays for the Rhode Island Thunder 14U National Team, based out of Monroe, Connecticut, a program known for developing high-level talent and competing on a national stage. For Durso, the All-American recognition is both an honor and an opportunity—one that brings her back to Oklahoma City to compete against the nation’s best while representing her region, her team, and her hometown.
This is an opinion not necessarily endorsed by the Woodbridge Town News.
