"Lunch Amidst the Vineyards" was the theme of the Garden Club of Woodbridge's first meeting of the 2025-2026 season on September 9.  Club members met for a charcuterie lunch under a massive gazebo at Jones Vineyards in Shelton.  Christiana, the owner (see photo), presented an engaging speech about the winery, as club members perused the rolling vineyards in the background.  She discussed cross pollinating branches from different vines, and reviewed the care given to produce unique blends.  The impact of spotted lanternflies on the vineyard was discussed, as well as how they cover the state by laying eggs on cars driven down I-95.  The meeting ended with the raffles of a member's lovely flower arrangement and a gift basket.

This is an opinion not necessarily endorsed by the Woodbridge Town News.
