My wife and I have been residents of Woodbridge since 1991.  We raised our two sons here, and truly love the town.  Every interaction that I have had with Woodbridge departments including the Police Department, Public Works, & the Building Department have been first rate.

However, I have some concerns.  The lack of progress by the town leadership while the exquisite property of what was once the Woodbridge Country Club decays is extremely concerning.

One of my sons went through the Woodbridge school system graduating Amity High in 2014.  The Woodbridge/Amity School system was one of the major reasons we moved to Woodbridge originally.  Our experience during those years was very good.

Over the recent years, some of my friends whose children more recently graduated from our system have not had the same quality experience.  The concerns I have heard about center on academic excellence taking a back seat.  (A recent survey shows Amity High School’s ranking in Connecticut falling from #28 in 2022-23 to #39 in 2023-24).

We no longer have children in the school system.  What concerns me though is not only my land values, but future generations of my family (should they choose to live in Woodbridge) who may attend schools in town.

Despite being a registered Democrat, these are some of the reasons I am supporting Dave Vogel for the Board of Selectmen.  I have known Dave for over 10 years.  His views for the future of this town not only align with mine, but he is smart, hard-working, and passionate about making our town the very best it can be.

This is an opinion not necessarily endorsed by the Woodbridge Town News.
