Woodbridge Welcomes Veteran Municipal Leader as New Director of Public Works

The Town of Woodbridge is pleased to announce the appointment of Michael Siciliano as its new Director of Public Works, bringing more than 30 years of hands-on and executive-level experience to the role.

Siciliano arrives in Woodbridge after most recently serving as Director of Public Works & Parks for the City of New Haven, where he oversaw citywide operations including roads, bridges, fleet management, refuse and recycling, forestry, drainage, and emergency storm response for a workforce of more than 170 employees. Before that, he spent over 25 years with the Town of Hamden's Public Works Department, rising from truck driver and mason-carpenter to Superintendent of Streets and, ultimately, Assistant Director.

Colleagues describe Siciliano as a steady, hands-on leader with a rare combination of field know-how and big-picture judgment. Hamden Town Engineer Stephen White called him "the voice of reason" in high-pressure situations, while former Hamden Public Works Director Craig Cesare praised him as "a self-starting, no-nonsense, never-quit professional" known for finding efficient solutions to complex problems.

Siciliano holds a CDL Class B license, is a certified Emergency Medical Technician, and studied at Gateway Community College. His career began in construction and masonry, giving him practical, ground-level insight into the infrastructure work he now leads.

"I am very pleased to accept this appointment and grateful for the opportunity to serve the Town of Woodbridge," Siciliano said. "I look forward to bringing my experience to this role and working alongside the town's dedicated staff to help move Woodbridge into the future."

First Selectman Mica Cardozo welcomed the appointment, calling Siciliano a tremendous asset to the town. "Mike brings a level of experience that's hard to find — he's done the work himself, and he's led large departments through it," Cardozo said. "He's going to be a fantastic addition to our already talented DPW staff, and I know our residents will be well served under his leadership."

Town officials say Siciliano's deep operational expertise, budget oversight experience, and record of steady leadership make him an excellent fit for Woodbridge as the town continues to invest in its roads, parks, and public infrastructure.
