On February 2, 2023 the Woodbridge Police Department arrested a North Haven man in connection with the theft of mail.  Arrested was Nicholas Judd, age 19, of North Haven, CT.  He was charged with Larceny 1st Degree and Forgery 3rd Degree.

His arrest is the result of an investigation that was initiated after a resident reported that after mailing a personal check in their curbside mailbox, it was subsequently intercepted, forged, and cashed by an unknown person.

Detectives confirmed that the stolen check had been altered and then fraudulently deposited for an amount exceeding $28,000.  After reviewing bank documents and surveillance footage, they were able to identify Judd as the person responsible for making several transactions involving the stolen funds, including various ATM withdrawals throughout three local towns.

Judd was released after posting a $10,000 bond and is scheduled for arraignment in New Haven Superior Court on February 16, 2023.
