Obituary: Guy S. D’Aniello

Guy S. D’Aniello, 75, of Hamden, CT, passed away surrounded by family on May 20, 2026. Guy was born September 12, 1950 to Stanley and Millie D’Aniello and graduated from Hamden High School in 1968 and Paier School of Art, which fostered his lifelong love of drawing and creating art.
Guy took his first cycling job in 1969 and became an integral part of the cycling community. He earned numerous accolades throughout the years in road racing and specialized in criteriums. In 1981, Guy and his wife, Suzan, opened D’Aniello’s Amity Bicycle Shop in Woodbridge, CT.
Later in life Guy found a passion for massage therapy and, in addition to being a practitioner, taught at Connecticut Center for Massage Therapy. Guy was also proud of his service in the Army Reserves. Opening his home to anyone in need, Guy was a caring individual who loved helping young people.
Guy leaves behind daughter Kala Zawalich and husband Matthew of Cheshire; son Kurt D’Aniello and partner Annalisa Paltauf of Hamden; grandchildren Kira and Daniel Zawalich of Cheshire; several beloved nieces and nephews and their families. Guy was predeceased by the love of his life and wife of 54 years, Suzan; also sister Paula Lupi of Hamden.
Family and friends are invited to come together to honor Guy at a Celebration of Life on Friday, May 29, from 3-6pm at New England Brewing Company located at 175 Amity Rd, Woodbridge, CT.
